The ‘Let’s Explore’ Greenfingers garden opens at Richard House Children’s Hospice
Greenfingers Charity was delighted to be joined by children, families and supporters at the official opening of the charity’s latest garden project at London’s first children’s hospice, Richard House, on Thursday 27th June 2018.
Greenfingers Charity was delighted to be joined by five-year old Myles along with parents Jerry and Myra at the grand opening. In the glorious sunshine, Myles, along with Dan and charity Patron Ann-Marie Powell planted a magnolia tree to celebrate the “Let’s Explore” Garden, the 57th garden built by Greenfingers Charity in hospices across the UK.
On Sunday June 2nd three brave souls from the UK garden retail sector will be taking to the skies to raise £15,000 for the Greenfingers Charity. Here we catch up with one of the ‘wing walkers’, GIMA Director, Vicky Nuttall, to find out more about her FUNdraising journey.
“I’ve recently celebrated a milestone birthday, so I felt it was time to get out of my comfort zone and challenge myself. The Greenfingers Wing Walk came along at the perfect moment, so I just knew I had to get involved! After all, what is more ‘out of your comfort zone’ than flying across the skies of Wiltshire whilst strapped to the top of an airplane?! Weirdly, I couldn’t jump out of a plane, but standing on one whilst it completes fly-bys, dives and banks feels so much more achievable! The landing is one area I’m trying hard not to think about, as is the acrobatic elements, so I’ll be working to focus on the whole experience rather than individual elements.
“Additionally, I am a proud ambassador for Greenfingers so have been looking for an opportunity to show my continued support of the charity. I’m also a proud Garden Re-Leaf Day Sponsored Walk 100 miler (it’s an exclusive club of three) and over the last five years have raised funds that way, but now just feels like the right time to do something different, and to really throw myself into an exciting challenge.
Leading garden and home PR agency, Hornby Whitefoot, has raised over £4,000 for Greenfingers Charity – the result of a year working alongside the charity’s team.
Hornby Whitefoot, who boast an impressive client portfolio of leading garden, home and lifestyle brands,has been helping Greenfingers with its marketing, communications and social media since November last year.
Needlefresh, the leading real Christmas tree supplier, has announced a charity partnership with Greenfingers which will be launched at Glee in September.
The fundraising initiative will allow garden retailers a simple way to donate to Greenfingers through Christmas sales over the upcoming festive period.
Woodlodge has announced it will once again be raising money for Greenfingers Charity at Glee 2018 by hosting a raffle in aid of this worthy cause.
Proudly celebrating its seventh year of support for Greenfingers, Woodlodge will sell raffle tickets throughout Glee, donating the cash raised to the charity dedicated to creating magical gardens for children who spend time in hospices. This year’s prize comprises of an exceptional selection of Prosecco piled high in a prestigious extra-large pot, from the company’s Heritage Garden collection.
