Research Reveals The Best UK Cities To Be A Gardener

The best and worst cities for gardeners to work in the United Kingdom have been revealed.

Garden workwear specialists MI Supplies analysed the yearly pay for gardeners in every city in the UK. Their research shows which cities gardeners can earn the most money and least money working in.

They discovered that York and Bradford are the two best cities in the UK for gardeners to make a living. The average pay is £24,040 for those working in York and £23,889 for those working in Bradford.

Gardeners working in Winchester and Edinburgh, meanwhile, have the lowest yearly salaries. They both came at the bottom of the list with £19,434 the average wage for Winchester gardeners and £19,602 for those in Edinburgh.

The average wages for gardeners in York have increased by 11% since 2013. There is also a £4,606 difference between the average pay for gardeners working in York compared to the lowest earning UK city Winchester.

The five best places to make a living in the United Kingdom as a gardener are:

Meanwhile, the five worst are:

1. Winchester - £19,434
2. Edinburgh - £19,602
3. Chester - £19,608
4. Newcastle - £19,636
5. Oxford - £19,995

MI Supplies analysed the yearly salaries for gardeners with at least five years of experience across all 69 cities in the UK.

Data was provided by PayScale, the largest real-time salary survey in the world where more than 150,000 new survey records are added every month.
