Zaquarella Greeting Cards

In the digital age, sending personalised messages in the form of cards and letters is becoming more important. There is something special about receiving a handwritten card or letter: An experience that cannot be replicated through an electronic message, email or social media.

Launched back in 2011 by Keith and Rachel Dickson, award winning Zaquarella have been designing and manufacturing a range of stunning greeting cards of the highest quality.

Initially the company began by providing artwork on a commission basis but they came to wider prominence when they were involved in the Rose Africa World Convention in 2012. In preparation for the convention, they were commissioned to paint the new rose for Rose Africa. The convention also saw Zaquarella launch their first luxury greeting cards featuring the roses. The success of the launch and the momentum generated at Roseafrica saw Zaquarella take a decision to make their work more widely available by creating a range of cards to share their beautiful artwork to the wider public.

Since those early days, they have added several new collections to their range and now offer more than twenty uniquely themed art collections. One of the things that make Zaquarella unique and distinguishes them from their competitors is the innovative way in which they operate and the amount of work that goes into researching colours and design trends in the greeting card market. All this is done in their Kent based design studio and all adds to the stunning end result producing some of the most beautiful, luxury greetings cards on the market.

They believe that watercolour is the perfect medium for the creation of contemporary works of art, and their artists add Zaquarella Greeting Cardsmodern twists such as shimmer and pearlessence to create different and exciting perspectives.

Rachel Dickson is responsible for all of Zaquarella’s designs and her passion for what she does comes shining through when she talks about the work Zaquarella do. Reflecting on their work Rachel says “ Botanical watercolour art is usually seen as being in the realm of the elite. We want to make this art accessible to everyone, so that they can enjoy the beautiful pictures as well as a personal, handwritten greeting card made from superior materials.

People need to be bold in their decisions, and be brave in choosing independent brands, designers and artists to promote remarkable and unique products in the marketplace.”

Keith and Rachel have managed to put together a talented team at Zaquarella which includes two British and one Swiss artist. In June they introduced a new collection from Slovenian artist Zala. Zala who is a vet by profession has a passion for African wildlife and has a real flair for creating colourful images of lions, giraffes and flamingos to name a few. These will all add even further to Zaquarella’s extensive range.

They supply a range of local traders, independent stores, gift shops, garden centres and manor houses and ensure that their cards are all printed locally. Rachel believes passionately the importance of putting money back into the local economy. Despite their success and global outlook they have managed to maintain a local heart and remain proudly British. They also quite rightly take a great deal of pride in their commitment to the environment, ensuring they use paper and cardboard that is eco friendly and sustainable.

In terms of the future, there are ambitious plans to feature the stunning artwork on a wider range of products including notebooks and stationery products. As they expand their range with the same passion and flair, the future looks bright at Zaquarella.
