WOLF-Garten lends a helping hand to our NHS

Leading garden tool supplier, WOLF-Garten, has donated a selection of high-quality tools to NHS staff for their communal garden, which is used to relax in after difficult call-outs.

The Chelmsford Ambulance Station, in Essex, reached out to the company asking for tool donations after it created a large pond and garden area late last year. The space is used by around 200 staff who work for the service.

To regenerate and expand the garden, staff were needing first-class, reliable tools to undertake basic daily tasks, such as weeding, planting and pond cleaning.

Emergency medical technician, Stuart Wilkinson, who has worked at the station for over five years has been at the forefront of this campaign. He also helped build the outdoor area at the station during his time on leave with PTSD.

The 42-year-old said: “Since we built this area, a lot of the staff use it regularly to relax, especially after particularly traumatic calls. We now have a space but want to bring it to life. We have been contacting various gardening companies for help with things like seeds, tools and storage spaces. As we have no steady stream of funding for this project, a lot of the things we need we have to hope people will be kind enough to donate them.”

WOLF-Garten decided to help this cause as its tools provided the solution for many of the tasks Mr Wilkinson and his team needed assistance with. The manufacturer has more than 170 gardening tools within its range, including the innovative multi-change® system.WOLF-Garten NHS gardeners

After assessing what the ambulance team needed, WOLF-Garten sent a selection of tools; including a pond net, rake, dutch hoe, fork, trowel and patio brush.

Mr Wilkinson added: “We can’t thank WOLF-Garten enough for its donation. We now have a whole repertoire of gardening tools that we can use to make our garden space even more beautiful. We all have challenging jobs within the NHS, and I think there should be a space at every ambulance station to help staff through the tough days. I feel immensely lucky that we have a garden which we can call our own and I look forward to getting stuck in during the summer with the team.”

Ian Seager, Marketing Manager for WOLF-Garten, said: “NHS workers do incredible work day-to-day, so we felt it was only right to give back to them. The staff at Chelmsford Ambulance Service work tirelessly to keep people safe, and their communal garden allows them to take a pause after a challenging day. We are thrilled to be part of such a positive project and can’t wait to see how the team get on with their garden in the summer.”
